Quality, not quantity.
It is an honor and a privilege to be a Devil Dog. The Order accepts only the worthiest regular members of the League. Membership is earned through your Detachment, your Pound and your fellow Dogs, and advancement is never automatic.
From League Member to Pup
Request membership
Let a Devil Dog in your local Pound know you would like to join the Order. Applications are handled by your Pound through the Kennel's KMA system, so start with the Pound.
Get your Commandant's recommendation
Your Detachment Commandant must recommend you for membership.
Find two sponsors
Two Devil Dogs or Pedigreed Devil Dogs must sponsor you.
Interview at a Pound Growl
The members of the Pound interview you at a Pound Growl (a meeting is called a Growl).
Initiation and swearing-in
If accepted, you go through an initiation and swearing-in ceremony and become a Pup in the Order, wearing the black collar.
Earning Your Collars
Pup (black collar) is earned in your Pound. Devil Dog (red collar) is earned at the Pack, here in Arizona. Pedigreed Devil Dog (gold collar) is earned at the Supreme Growl held with the League's National Convention.
Each degree must be held for one full year before candidacy for the next may be considered. Advancement is not automatic after one year. It must be earned. It is a privilege, not a right.
